Remember the Cinnamon Challenge, where people filmed themselves trying to eat a spoonful of cinnamon and failing miserably?

Well the Condom Challenge is like that but so, so much dumber.

For some reason teenagers have decided that snorting a rubber and pulling it out of their mouth sounds like an excellent way to get their 15 minutes of fame.

It is exactly as gag-inducing as it sounds but if, for some reason, you reckon you can stomach it, here's an example.

Please don't ask us why. We're just as lost as you are.

The bizarre internet fad has gained so much traction in recent weeks that a professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has issued a warning to anyone considering taking part.

"When is using a condom a bad idea? When you are trying to snort it up your nose and pull it out through your mouth," Bruce Lee explained in a recent Forbes article.

"If you ask, 'Why would anyone ever do that', then you obviously haven't heard of the 'Condom Snorting Challenge'.

"The condom could easily get stuck in your nose or your throat, blocking your breathing or causing you to choke.

"Even if you manage to successfully pull the condom out through your mouth, inhaling a condom up your nose would be very uncomfortable and potentially quite painful.

"Would it really be worth all that just to get more likes and views?"

According to Lee, accidentally swallowing a condom can lead to a litany of awful medical issues, including blocked airways, collapsed lungs and, in one case, the condom becoming lodged in the appendix.

So, for the record, the only thing you should be inhaling through your nose is air. Got it?
