If you've ever lied awake at night and wondered how many times you had farted in a day; wonder no more.

A couple of legendary Aussie scientists from RMIT and Monash university's have invented a world first device that can track your gastrointestinal activities and monitor the amount of gas in your guts.

The device, an ingestible electronic capsule, when paired with a pocket-sized receiver and mobile phone app, can track farts in real time and let you know when your body is preparing to let one rip.

“Our pilot trial illustrated the significant potential role for electronic-based gas-sensing capsules in understanding functional aspects of the intestine and its microbiota in health and in response to dietary changes,” the creators stated.

The creators of the fart tracker hope the device will help scientists better understand the inner workings of the human stomach and digestive system.

We however see this device as the perfect way into turning ourselves into a ticking fart time bomb, gifting us the ability to go into situations knowing if we're fully loaded with a stink rocket ready to launch.

How good is living in the future.
