Ryan Reynolds is behind an R-rated Home Alone-inspired comedy, titled Stoned Alone.

The premise of the film will follow a 20-something loser who misses the plane for his holiday ski trip and instead gets high at home, according to Deadline.

"He makes the best of things by getting high," a synopsis reads.

"Paranoia sets in and he believes he hears someone break into his house. Turns out thieves have broken in.

"Fully stoned and fuelled by paranoia, he tries to thwart the thieves and defend his castle.”

Reynolds will produce and potentially star in the comedy film, with the movie to be directed by Augustine Frizzell, who directed comedy film Never Goin' Back.

The Deadpool star will produce through his company, Maximum Effort, with Maximum Effort's George Dewey also signing on as executive producer.

Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin as eight-year-old Kevin McAllister who was left at home while his family went on a Christmas vacation to Paris, was a box office smash.

The 1990 film raked in $476 million at the box office.
