That New Crocodile Dundee Film Was Actually A Tourism Australia Super Bowl Ad

A few weeks ago a trailer dropped for a mysterious new Crocodile Dundee film.

Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home was set to be based on the son of Paul Hogan's famous Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee, and starred Danny McBride and basically every famous Australian actor - including Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher, and a bunch more.

We had our suspicions that the movie was a fake, and those suspicions were confirmed during today's Super Bowl.

Turns out the whole thing was just a big advertisement by Tourism Australia.

The advertisement cost an estimated $36million, with today's Super Bowl ad spot just the beginning of the campaign.

“The Super Bowl is advertising’s biggest and most lucrative stage, with more than 110 million Americans watching and many tens of millions more across the world," ourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF) Chief Executive, Margy Osmond said.

“This marketing push is priceless exposure to one of our fastest growing and most important travel markets.

“This campaign will undoubtedly become one of the biggest talking points on the biggest day in American sport.”
