Now this took some balls.

The United States Navy has been forced to issue an apology after one of their pilots drew a giant penis in the sky.

Washington State residents spotted the massive artwork soaring above their heads and yes, they definitely posted a lot of pictures.

Although the pilot achieved the dreams of every schoolboy aspirant pilot, his commanding officers weren't too thrilled.

The navy had to issue an apology afterwards, labelling it "absolutely unacceptable".

"The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable," they said in a statement.

Naval Air Forces vice admiral Mike Shoemaker told reporters the act was immature.

"The American people rightfully expect that those who wear the Wings of Gold exhibit a level of maturity commensurate with the missions and aircraft with which they’ve been entrusted," he said.

"Naval aviation continually strives to foster an environment of dignity and respect. Sophomoric and immature antics of a sexual nature have no place in Naval aviation today."
