The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City is the best-preserved Imperial Palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world. Home to 24 emperors, it was also the ceremonial and political centre of Chinese government for almost 500 years, that now attracts over 14.6 million annual visitors.

Great Wall of China

Possibly one of it’s most famous attractions, The Great Wall of China extends over 6,000 kilometres and took more than 1,000 years to build. The most famous sections of the wall include Mutianyu, Jinshanling and Jiankou.

Tian’anmen Square

Tian’anmen Square meaning “Gate of Heavenly Peace” is the largest public square in China, and sixth largest city square in the world, accommodating up to a million people. In the square, visitors can attend the national flag raising ceremony, held at sunrise everyday.

Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is the best-preserved Imperial garden in the world and a very popular tourist destination! UNESCO declared it “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design”. There’s so much to see and enjoy, most people find they need to spend at least half a day here, wandering through different buildings and courtyards, or just taking in the views.

The Beijing Hutongs

These are a series of mazes and narrow alleyways linking old single-story traditional courtyard houses. They give a wonderful glimpse into yesterday’s world – the old way of life and how dramatically Beijing has changed over the years.

Watching The Beijing Opera

The Beijing Opera is a national treasure with a history of over 200 years! The make up, the amazing costumes, the face masks, the vocals – it is high-class performance entertainment involving acrobatic fighting, dancing and singing.
