PornHub have released the only annual trend report we're interested in, collating data from searches on their website for the fifth year in a row.

Which means that all the incognito mode settings in the world couldn't save us from the revelation that there was a massive spike in searches for fidget spinner porn over the last 12 months.

The bizarre crossover resulted, PornHub said, in "some very creative amateur videos" and joined "porn for women" and "Rick and Morty" in the searches that defined 2017.

Drilling down (sorry) to what Australians in particular were looking for over the last 12 months has thrown up a couple of surprises too.

Hentai has jumped up six spots to the fourth top search of 2017 - with lesbian remaining in the number one position - while we're apparently fond of the outdoors in more ways than one, if the most viewed categories have anything to say.

You can see Pornhub's extremely thorough review of the 24.7 BILLION searches in 2017 here but, for now, let's all pledge to leave fidget spinners where they belong this year.
