With the Easter long weekend ahead, it's time to dig out your rod, sink your line and tackle up to catch some fish.

But where to? Do you head inland or stick to the coast? Lake or river? Or is this the year you finally tackle fly-fishing?

To help you decide, we've rounded up - in alphabetical order (because it was hard enough just picking five) - our favourite fishing spots in and around Adelaide.

Brighton Jetty

Down south, past the airport and beyond Glenelg, Brighton jetty is a ripper place to sink the line. You can even take the train, the jetty is just a short stroll across the Espalanade.

Glenelg Jetty

Just a great place for a stroll up the jetty to get stuck into the Bream, Mulloway, Salmon Trout, Tommy Ruff, and especially squid, which isn’t as commonly found on other jetties around Adelaide, if you head right to the end. And you’re never far from some of the city’s best fish and chips after your day, whether you’ve filled your net or not.

Henley Beach

A little closer to the city, Henley Beach is a fantastic place for family fishing. Nearby West Beach is very popular thanks to its jetty, boat ramp and rock groyne. There’s easy access and plenty of fish biting!

Port Adelaide River/Outer Harbour

Get your bream, garfish, and snapper in among the boulders on the Breakwater at Outer Harbour. Port Adelaide is one of the most rewarding spots in town, both in terms of what you catch, and the experience of the setting.

St Kilda

An early start rewards those who set up on the rocks of St Kilda. Or set sail on the water in a boat to get the best yellowfin whiting, mullet and crabs to add to the bream and salmon trout found in other nearby fishing spots.
