8 Times Townsville Snakes Have Given Us The Heebie Jeebies
NO THANKS!
Hiding in toilets, crawling into bed with their owners, curled up under your car seat- you never know where a snake will randomly appear in Townsville.
But it's the risk we run living in the tropics.
While we aren't Olympic quality sprinters, we sure move quick when a slippery visitor is around!
Locals definitely haven't had a shortage of run-ins with snakes, here's 10 times they've given us the heebie jeebies...
1. September 2015: Volunteer snake catcher Elliot Budd went to a Mount Stuart house after a tradie working found a 3 metre Python in a loo.
2. 2016: More snake bites were recorded at Townsville Hospital than any other hospital in the state.
3. November 2017: An overgrown Kelso backyard was taken over my rats and snakes.
4. October 2017: A Carpet Python swallowed a bat whole.
5. July 2017: An elderly Condon couple discovered an Eastern Brown in their dining room.
6. 2017: An extremely rare find- a Mulga Snake was captured in a Wulguru garage- the first sighting since the 1930's.
7. November 2017: Joe Mack Townsville snake catcher was called to the property after the owners went to put on a load of washing and spotted the taipan hiding in the dark laundry. The laundry was destroyed to remove the snake.
8. January 2018: A woman in Rangewood woke up with a snake in her bed.
