A North Queensland attraction is back this weekend, after a lot of effort from local action enthusiasts.

After two years of blood sweat and tears, the Pioneer Park Speedway is swinging open the gates this Saturday.

Motorbikes will hit the track on Saturday in Brandon for the Gary Moon Memorial.

Owner Rod Heathcote says they've had to rebuild a lot from the ground up, including a brand new racing surface.

Thousands are expected at the event which will see competitors from NZ, NT and WA on the track.

Spectators will include enthusiasts from as far as Spain, and Adelaide coming to enjoy the night.

The marathon effort put in by the community will be rewarded when gates open at 3pm on Saturday.
