We love the Sun here in the North... but it doesn't love us back unfortunately.

There's a dream to see the end of Melanoma and we all want to make it a reality.

You can help by attending the seventh annual Melanoma March, coming to Townsville thanks to the help of local organiser Kayla Sellen.

Affected by her mother’s melanoma diagnosis, Kayla says “North Queensland residents lack exposure and understanding of what melanoma is. Until my mum was diagnosed with it, I didn’t know what melanoma was or what it could do. At this year’s Townsville March I’m hoping we will raise awareness so everyone can understand what melanoma is, how to protect yourself from it, and build good relationships within the community so people can help each other.”

This initative, part of the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) aims to raise both awareness and life-saving funds for melanoma research.

“This year 14,000 Australians will be told they have melanoma. With one of the highest rates in world, melanoma continues to be the most common cancer affecting 15 to 39 year olds and kills more young Australians aged 20-39 than any other cancer,” said Melanoma Institute Australia CEO, Carole Renouf.
