Middleton Beach will be a hub of activity when the inaugural Middleton Beach and Australia Day Festival takes over its shores.

Presented in partnership with Act-Belong-Commit, the weeklong festival kicked off on January 22 and is a one-stop-shop for summer fun with a live sand sculpture build, sand sculpture workshops, bungy trampoline, bouncy castles, beach library and more.

The week will end with the annual Australia Day activities, which includes the Rotary Club All Morning Breakfast from 7am at Eyre Park followed by the Men’s Resource Centre HBF Fun Run at 9am at the beachfront.

Community members are also invited to attend the Citizenship and Australia Day Awards ceremony at Centennial Stadium from 10am where the City will recognize some of its outstanding citizens for their work in the community.

From 12noon the Australia Day Festival will be non-stop fun with a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy including a sandcastle competition, Circus Challenge, archery tag, beach volleyball, yoga, stand-up paddle boarding and more.

Beats on the Beach will kick off at 4pm with a local DJ entertaining the crowd prior to a performance by talented local musician and international performer Fingers Mitchell Cullen at 5.30pm.

The day will end with an outdoor movie screening of Red Dog 2: True Blue at sunset. Food and drink will be available from food vendors as well as surrounding businesses.
