THE GREAT BUILDINGS OF BENDIGO ARE OPEN!

The Open House Bendigo Weekend takes place in just over a week on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October with a range of talks, walks, screenings and workshops aimed to encourage locals and out-of-towners to explore the diversity and design of the city’s built environment.

From innovative living spaces, to gold-rush heritage icons and state-of-the-art educational facilities, Open House Bendigo has something for everyone to explore and inspire curiosity. The Weekend will celebrate the vibrancy of local contemporary design, the rich history of boom-style architecture, and the remarkable social history of Bendigo. There are 18 buildings open on the Weekend where no bookings are required and you can just turn up to join a tour or view the building.

In between building tours, check out Saturday’s special events:

Speakers include Sophie Patitsas, Principal Adviser, Urban Design and Architecture – Office of Victorian Government Architect and Professor Stuart Macintyre AO – Chair of the Heritage Council of Victoria.

Bendigo Library Retrospective (Open Exhibition)
251-259 Hargreaves St, Bendigo 3550

Bendigo Library will host a retrospective exhibition, including architectural plans, historical photos and redevelopment stages, of how our library building has changed in response to community need. A dedicated library building was opened on the current sight in 1984 and in 2014 the library launched a renewed design, by MGS Architects, with the aim of creating a 21st century library space.
