While another year goes past without someone having invented the bottomless wineglass (come on, Elon Musk!), we’ve heard through the grapevine about the next best thing for those among us who love nothing more than a glass of wine and some mouth-watering eats...

A weeklong wine festival. That’s right. One. Whole. Week.

From Friday 12th–Monday 22nd of October, Bendigo, one of Australia’s premiere wine regions, is serving up ten different food and wine events inside some of the city's most iconic historic buildings. It’s about celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage and production of all things tasty.

So if you have to, just how many different wines can you find during Bendigo Uncorked Week? Wes Vine, a name perfectly befitting a President of the Bendigo Winegrowers Association, reveals all:

“There’ll be around 80 wines on show from local winemakers ready to set you on a journey around our wine region. We’ve partnered with local restaurants and venues to bring together the region’s best local drops, luxe dining experiences and grand gold rush architecture.”

- Wes Vine, President Bendigo Winegrowers Association

Launching the festival is feature event Bendigo Heritage After Dark (Oct 12th) showcasing an array of 40 unique wines, as well as a food tasting box and live music.

To top it all off, the night will be held in the Fortuna Village Gold Crushing Room – the old space where quartz was crushed and Bendigo’s first gold was extracted.

Bendigo Heritage Uncorked (Oct 20th) is yet another staple of the week and the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

You’ll stroll between seven historic buildings and stop at each to fill up your glass and nibble away at regionally sourced delicacies paired with your vino in mind by local chefs.

Other boutique events and experiences include a night at the movies, rustic Italian banquet, and The People’s Choice Awards’ blind tasting where you get to have your say for which wine should take the crown as Bendigo’s Best shiraz. (Don’t worry, there are only a whopping 14 different shiraz for you to sample and vote on.)

Here’s a little taste to get those juices flowing:

A wonderful way to welcome in the springtime, make sure you mark your calendars because if you’re gaga about wine, food and local heritage, there’s no way in the world this will be a "pour" decision.
