About Friday at the Flicks: 
Friday at the Flicks is a series of classic, significant and challenging films. A five-minute pre-screening talk sets the context and then post-show drinks and nibbles allow for a post-show discussion.

About the film: 
There’s always a way in.  A sixteen-year-old boy insinuates himself into the house of a fellow student from his literature class and writes about it in essays for his French teacher. Faced with this gifted and unusual pupil, the teacher rediscovers his enthusiasm for his work, but the boy’s intrusion will unleash a series of uncontrollable events.

France, 2012. MA15+ (Not suitable for people under 15. Under 15’s must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian)

“FROM BIG THINGS LITTLE THINGS GROW”:

A demonstration by an internationally renowned Bonsai artist.

WHEN:  SATURDAY AUGUS 12TH

WHERE:  CITY GOLF CLUB, 254 South Street, Toowoomba

TIME:  9:30AM – 4:30PM

 As part of Toowoomba Bonsai Group's 40th anniversary celebration the group is proud to host internationally recognised bonsai artist Boon Manakitivipart for an exciting day of Bonsai involving several demonstrations around our theme of "From Big Things Little Things Grow".

Boon Manakitivipart lives in America but trained in Japan under Bonsai Master Kihachiro Kamiya.

In April 2000 Boon won the Grand Prize in the Kindai Bonsai Styling contest. He was the only non-Japanese entrant in the contest. CRAVE FOOD FESTIVAL:

WHEN:  SATURDAY AUGUST 12TH

WHERE:  MARY MACKILLOP CATHOLIC COLLEGE PRIMARY CAMPUS, 75 Highfields Road, Highfields

TIME:  5:30PM – 8:30PM

Crave Food Festival is an open to the public, family friendly, gourmet food event held on the second Saturday evening of every month, hosted by the Mary MacKillop Catholic College Parents and Friends Association.

You are invited to come along and sample from a wide range of food vendors and enjoy a family friendly movie and entertainment. Bar facilities are also available.

Check out the amazing goods on offer at the Highfields Village Markets and then wander across to the College to enjoy a casual dinner (and a glass of wine), with all the family catered for. Bring your picnic rug and relax while you listen to some music or watch the family friendly films on the outdoor screen.

Head along and support the Mary MacKillop Catholic College and the Highfields local community.

TOOWOOMBA’S TINY TOTS and ME MARKET:

WHEN:  SUNDAY AUGUST 13TH

WHERE:  CENTENARY HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL, ASSEMBLY HALL, Corner Ramsay and South Streets, Toowoomba

TIME:  From 9AM

 

Head out to this inaugural market at Centenary Heights State School.

The market will have a mix of preloved and new baby, kids and maternity items with the aim of easing the purchase of items to just one place.

Help reduce waste by purchasing preloved items, then shop around for something special and new for the little bundle of joy. Once the shopping is done, sit back and have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat as well while the kids run and play!

It promises to be a fun day out for the whole family.

HEROES AND VILLAINS FUN RUN/WALK:

 

WHERE:  TOOWOOMBA ANGLICAN COLLEGE and PREPARATORY SCHOOL

WHEN:  SUNDAY AUGUST 13TH

TIME: 8:00AM – 11:00AM

COST:  $10 PER ENTRY/ $20 PER FAMILY

 

For the second year in a row, the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is calling upon families to dress as their favourite superhero or villain for the ‘HEROES AND VILLAINS WALK/RUN’.

An event for every fitness level, families, friends and colleagues, funds raised from the day go towards the Toowoomba Hospital’s Orthopaedic Department.

Bring your family along and run for 5k (approx) or walk for 2k around beautiful East Toowoomba.

After the run/walk there will be healthy treats, competitions and prizes for best dressed. (male/female).

Dogs are welcome to come in dress-up as well!  (MUST BE SUITABLY RESTRAINED WITH OWNER TO BRING OWN DOGGIE CLEAN UP BAGS).
