This Friday, March 16, take part in a fun and informative tour with Ag Connect WA around Esperance. The day will take you around to several farms in the area, talking to you about all things farming, from cropping to livestock to... beer!

The day is about connecting farmers, young and old, sharing information and cultivating relationships to help support everyone in the agriculture game in the future.

The day begins at 745am at the Pier Street hotel in Esperance (should be a sleep in for most of you!) before the bus leavers for Ash Stewart's farm, where the topic of conversation will be improving soils for continuous cropping programs, benefits of clap spreading, deep ripping programs, succession planning for the next generation, spading and snail problems. Heaps of useful information.

The touring party then moves on to Dave Cox's farm, with lunch provided there. Talk's on mouldboard ploughing and deep rigging before Dave Cox talks about his Nuffield Scholarships in 2004 and 2005 and the topics of crop grazing and nitrogen strips, commercial cattle programming, cattle and land agistment and the difficulties in farming properties with long distances apart, seeding preparation and programs.

AND then, off to the brewery! Lucky Bay Brewery that is, where a tour of the brewery will be had, talking about its history and the process from paddock to the bottle.

Following some time at the brewery, the bus will head back to the Pier Hotel, with a sundowner commencing from 6pm, with guest speakers Stew McKenzie (Hi tech ag solutions), Fleur Mcdonald (Esperance Agriculture Show update and the importance of young people in agriculture) and Brett South (AgConnectWA).

If you're interested contact AgConnectWA on 9486 2100 or email [email protected].

Just don't forget to bring your farm hear, hat and sunscreen!
