Gold Coast youth event Check It Fest is back for 2017 and will be held on Saturday October 7, 11am-4pm on The Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands in Southport.

Hosted by a group of community service organisations and coordinated by Headspace, this event aims to engage young people between 12-25 years in raising awareness around good mental health, promoting help-seeking behaviour and, ultimately, reducing the risk of suicide in the community.

Check It Fest promotes these key messages:

  • Check Yourself: It’s ok to ask for help or support if you’re having a hard time
  • Check Your Mates: A good mate checks in with their friends to see if they are all good
  • Check Out Services: There are free, youth-friendly services and places on the Gold Coast if you or your mates need support

There will be a great range of activities to take part in on the day, such as candle-making, bandana tie dying, Zorb balls to have fun in and a giant slide! You will also be able to listen to local artists in 'Check My Talent', as well as CC the Cat performing live for attendees!

But that's not all - there will be a FREE sausage sizzle (vegetarian options and other food available for purchase) and a raffle with the following prizes up for grabs:

  • An awesome $400 bike (courtesy of Accoras you.nique)
