We Are Gold Coast

On Saturday the 25th August, Check it Fest is coming to the Broadwater Parklands, Southport to raise awareness for youth mental health and how to seek help.

Established to support World Suicide Prevention Day, and sponsored by the Qld Mental Health Commission, as well as a number of community organisations, the festival is a free event aimed at people 12 – 18 years old.

Check it Fest teaches kids that it’s okay to ‘check yourself’ by asking for help, ‘check your mates’ by inquiring after friend’s mental health, and ‘check out services’ by promoting free Gold Coast mental health support services.

This year’s festival will introduce a new feature called Check my Talent, which will see school musicians battle out for prizes. There will also be activities and games, and a free BBQ.
