A million must be sold.

Where to buy an acai bowl on the Coast that will help change the world

This Summer, Sambazon Acai bowls are doing much more than just serving up our favourite berry.

The world's first and only organic Acai and fair trade company today launched the 'Million Fair Trade Bowls Project'.

From November - March, they're aiming for one million bowls to be sold across Australia, with 5% of every one sold going towards a new school in the Amazon.

It's a huge mission, but it's not the first.

"Since 2000, all we wanted to do was change the world, little by little. When we started, organic acai didn’t exist which meant certified standards didn’t either. That’s why we worked with Ecocert to create the very first Fair Trade Guidelines for acai."

- Ryan Black, Founder of Sambazon Acai

They've been working with 30,000 people living in the Amazon who harvest the berries for years.

The process will blow your mind:

The indigenous locals living in the forest, climb a 50 foot Acai palm tree, climb back down, put the berries in a basket, put that basket on a canoa, and then row up the Amazon river where they're processed by the local factory.

Shortly after that, it's shipped to Aus and eaten beach side as a refreshing and healthy treat on a hot day.

Over the years, the companies profits have helped build 10 schools, a hospital and clean water in Northern Brazil.

"We donate seeds, drills, polishing and staining equipment to local women’s coops making jewellery, help convert local brick factories to acai burning furnaces instead of wood, we recapture the water we use, clean it and return it back to the river cleaner than it started."

- Ryan Black, Founder of Sambazon Acai
