Check Out The GOTAFE Apprentices Off To The Tradie Olympics

Eleven GOTAFE apprentices will have their spanner, hair dryer or make up kit at the ready, when they head to Sydney next month to represent Victoria in the Tradie Olympics.

The annual competition sees students in a variety of fields compete against their classmates and the clock in their chosen trade.

The eleven candidates claimed gold in the Regional WorldSkills Competition at GOTAFE's Shepparton and Wangaratta Campuses in areas such as Building, Automotive, Plumbing, Retail Baking Bread, Retail Baking Pastry, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.


Perrin Larke, Riley Waldron, Ella James, Patrick Bourke, Shaun Davis, Hannah Wilson,Mark Williams, Ethan Cootes, Kyla Wagner, Kyle Little and Josephine Laulu Seiuli will now compete in the national championships on the National stage.

“We are looking to help cover the costs of GOTAFE Apprentices attending WorldSkills, so will be holding a number of fundraising activities throughout the North East over the next couple of months.”

WorldSkills is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world, held every two years, bringing together the best young people from across the world.

With over 20,000 spectators, 300 judges, 120 volunteers and $10 million worth of materials and equipment, competitors will spend up to 20 hours battling it out with the nation’s best Tradies.

Held in Darling Harbour, Sydney, the WorldSkills National Championships, the winners are in with a chance to represent Australia at the major world title held in Russia in 2019.
