It's hard to believe that it was 1877 when The Shepparton Agricultural Society formed and their first show was held.

Fast forward 142 years and The Shepparton Show is the annual family-fun affair treasured by every local.

Rolling into town on October 12 and 13, the usual suspects will grace the Shepparton Showgrounds, from traditional judging of cattle, miniature pony and horses, miniature goats and the cat and dog show to wood chopping, side show alley, trade and food stalls... and one unusual surprise.

Ferret racing is the latest attraction to an unmissable race program, with the adorable and highly intelligent animal set to become the star of the show on October 13, as they run through an obstacle course of tubes with a flurry of spectators cheering from the side lines.

Originally deriving from the UK, the hilarious and highly entertaining Fastest Ferret Cup is open to all ferret owners in the community to bring their fluffy friends down to compete for their chance to win the Vline Fastest Ferret Cup and Vline Travel pass valued at $300.

And the show stoppers don't stop there. The Brophy Brothers Circus is back to wow crowds, Eddy Freeman and his popular chainsaw carving show always revs up an audiences and the popular stilt walkers and circus skills workshop will turn heads around every corner.

With a variety of food stalls, gemstone and hay cutting displays and vintage and tractors, there really is something for every member of the family.

They say the early bird catches the worm and for this show, it's true. The early bird family pass is available for two adults and three children aged between 5 and 15 now to purchase for $35 while at the gate they are $45. Hint: That gives you more money to spend on show bags.

And you know what they say, if it wasn't on social media, were you even there? Make sure you take plenty of happy snaps across the two big days and#SheppShow so everyone can see!
