Legendary singer Barbra Streisand (ask your grandparents kids!) has revealed in Variety magazine that she has cloned her late dog, Samantha, who died in 2017.
Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett were born after cells were taken from the stomach and the mouth of Samantha, before she passed away.
“They have different personalities,” Streisand says. “I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness” she told Variety.
It’s started a twitter storm with the hashtag #sendintheclones resonating worldwide.
not rescuing a dog out of the millions in need of it and instead paying absurd amounts of money to clone one is PEAK rich white people
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), responded warning doggo owners across the world not to follow Babs’ lead:
Because cloning has a high failure rate, many dogs are caged & tormented for every birth that actually occurs-so that's not fair to them, despite the best intentions. We feel Barbra Streisand's grief at losing her beloved dog but would also love to have talked her out of cloning.
All three dogs appear frequently in Streisand’s Instagram feed.
