We’re proud to be Novocastrians, let’s be honest. Summer in Newcastle is especially wonderful as we have so many spectacular places to eat, drink and things to do.
Recently Tanya and Steve reunited father and son Troy and Kevin thanks to Newcastle City Council’s Better Together campaign. Once reunited, we had the best plan. They would both need to experience the ultimate Newcastle itinerary. First somewhere to stay…
When you think of Newcastle your first thought should be: the Beach. So there was no option but to have Kevin stay right on Newcastle Beach. The gorgeous Novotel on Newcastle Beach is an iconic feature and the best place to rest while experiencing Australia. It’s the prime position to stay when in Newcastle as it’s close to the city CBD, close to restaurants and a short walk to the beach.
To really experience Newcastle, you have to travel into our past. With so many historic sites within walking distance of each other. Kevin and Troy were treated to a tunnel tour at Fort Scratchley…an experience to remember for life.
The café lifestyle has really become the norm in Newcastle. With so many cultures calling Newcastle home there’s a plethora of food experience. Whether it’s a pub feed, fish and chips by the beach or a fancy dinner you’re after, we have it! Rustica offers GORGEOUS views overlooking Newcastle beach, offering a delish Mediterranean menu and fine wines. It just happened to be Kevin’s 69th Birthday so it was an extra special night at Rustica’s.
One of the beautiful features of Newcastle and the Hunter is that so many of the experiences are part of the natural beauty. Along the coast it’s swimming and surfing, while the stunning Tree Tops Adventure Park, Minmi makes the most of the bushland that surrounds us. The courses there are self-guided, so you can go at your own pace.
Where else to finish the day, but with a cruise along our revitalised harbour! Kevin and Troy were treated to a cruise and lunch all thanks to Nova Cruises. Yes we have harped on a tad about our coastline and this is the best place to see it. Newcastle Harbour is picturesque when on a Nova Cruises vessel – just get the right day for it and you’ll never forget it.
In Newcastle it is the coming together of our history, the new and the exciting to make our town the best place to live in the world! We were pleased to bring Kevin and Troy back together at the most wonderful time of the year – CHRISTMAS!
