With the news that you can now fly to Adelaide direct from Newcastle Airport (which has made many KOFM team members very happy indeed), we thought we’d check out what’s on in the southern state over the Easter long weekend.
Whether it’s a family holiday, a romantic getaway, or fun with friends, there’s a stack of exciting (or should that be “egg-citing”?) events in and around Adelaide - conveniently now just a two hour direct flight away from Newcastle Airport.
A gigantic day out for kids…
If you’re trying to think of a way for the kids to burn off all that extra pre-Easter energy (let’s be honest, who doesn’t sneak in a few chocolates early?), look no further than the Kidz Gigantic Day Out. There are plenty of sports challenges and games, from AFL and cricket to the Giant NERF Challenge. If the kids prefer a brain work-out, the Science Lab and Nature Play zones let kids experience the wonder of science with slime making, planetarium sessions, and native animals.
Meanwhile, parents might feel a bit nostalgic at Bric-a-laide – Adelaide’s LEGO fan event. Kids and kids-at-heart can marvel at brick creations by Australian modellers, then get in on the fun themselves with LEGO stores and play areas available.

…or a cruisy weekend for adults
For those who would prefer a relaxing long-weekend holiday without the kids, perhaps it’s time for an Easter cruise on the Murray River aboard the PS Murray Princess. The three-night cruise departs from Mannum (just 1.5 hours from Adelaide) and includes Taste Riverland food and wine, on-shore excursions, and live entertainment. It’s not called an “Easter cruise” for no reason, though – the cruise promises a host of holiday festivities, including an Easter Sunday Egg Hunt.
