After launching on Monday 6 November, Newcastle City Council’s Park and Ride has seen thousands of commuters who work in the East End, CBD and Honeysuckle use the free park and bus service to save time and money.
"It's been great to watch the patronage increase every day and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive highlights Jeremy Bath, Newcastle City Council's ICEO.
"We have also received a number of suggestions to encourage even more people to park and ride and this had led to an additional stop being added at Honeysuckle and a slight tweak to operating times."
From today, the inbound city busses will run from 7am to 9am. Buses will still leave every 15 minutes from McDonald Jones Stadium. The outbound buses will run between 4.30pm-6.30pm with buses every 15 minutes.
Also, a stop has been added at Honeysuckle for the inbound service only. This stop will not operate during the Newcastle 500 event period - from Monday 20 November until Friday 1 December - due to traffic changes in the city centre. This stop will be back in action from Monday 4 December.
The service takes advantage of the car park at McDonald Jones Stadium so there are some exclusion dates where our top of the table Jets are playing at home.
NOTE: The service will not operate on Thursday 23 November as there is a Newcastle Jets home game or on Friday 24 November due to McDonald Jones Stadium being used as a park and ride for ticket holders going to the Newcastle 500.
