A strange event happened in the Hunter Valley a fortnight ago.
The Maitland Show.
No… wait. The Maitland Show, without flooding rain.
There you go.
The weather gods were on hiatus. It seemed permanently.
Then the following weekend, the heavens opened. And Gavin Morris on NBN News finally cracked a smile.
Maitland got around 50mm, some suburbs more. Newcastle and Port Stephens got drenched as well, and our farmers are starting to see a bit of relief with their crops and stock getting their first bit of rain in months. And more is on the way.
This weekend some parts of the region could see heavy falls and up to another 50mm of the good stuff.
But of course. I washed and detailed the car. Silly me. Wait. Go me!
Let’s do it again next week as well.
We need it.
My mother swears that when she washes her doona cover, inclement weather is on the horizon. That doona cover must have stunk the last couple of months!
Do you have any rituals that seem to bring about the rain?
