Greenmount Heritage Fair - Greenmount Homestead (Sunday)

Quality, Local, Unique. Come to a great family day out as we continue to celebrate Greenmount Homestead! Enjoy a huge variety of displays and quality local and unique goods from many stalls. There will be local food vendors, working displays of machinery and crafts from yesteryear, items for sale by local craftspeople and artisans, a fashion parade, live music and more. Sunday, May 27, from 9am to 3pm.

Mackay Says NO, Free Family Fun Day - Queens Park (Saturday)

Come along and help Mackay celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mackay Women's Services (Domestic Violence Resource Service, Mackay Women's Centre and Mackay Women's Sexual Assault Service) have partnered with Mackay Regional Council to provide this fabulous FREE event for families. Free sausage sizzle, jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting, balloons, lollies and heaps more entertainment! Not forgetting, our SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER! You will have to come along to see just who this will be! It’s on from 10am – 2pm.

Creature: An adaptation of Dot & The Kangaroo - The MECC (Saturday)

Creature invites you to enter the magical world of the Australian bush to explore how our actions and choices affect the world around us. Come along to the show from 4.30pm to meet Hector and for some fun local wildlife encounters! Free Pre-Show Wildlife Fun in the North Foyer. Meet local fauna orphan’s ‘live’ in the foyer; thanks to Australian Wildlife Rescue Service. Any ticket purchased goes in the draw to win local wildlife experiences; thanks to Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park and Rainforest Scuba.

Mackay Amateurs Race Day - Mackay Turf Club (Saturday)

A wonderful day of live local thoroughbred racing. Sausage Sizzle – Nick’s IGA (Saturday until May 26)

The Mackay Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a sausage sizzle Saturday out the front of Nick’s IGA in West Mackay to raise money for research into dementia.

Post-It Note Art Wall - Gordon White Library (until May 31)

Embrace your inner artist and express yourself in a 7.5 x 7.5 cm square. Make your mark! For the month of May, you are invited to drop in and create a masterpiece on our Post-It Note Art Wall. Post-It notes and various art mediums will be available for use on location.

The Art of Insecta Art Exhibition - Mackay Botanic Gardens Cafe (Until June 3)

Maya Harrison and Kate Brunner have a fascination with the natural world. Insects, the most abundant and diverse groups of organisms with amazing abilities and existing in almost every environment on earth, are their latest focus. Opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 9am to 3pm and weekends 8am to 4pm.
