There's no need to leave the Southwest this long weekend, with a huge range of sporting events, markets and a circus in the region!

For the first time, the City of Bunbury will host the Junior Cycling National Championships from Friday to Sunday 21 to 23 September, with 250 competitors and their families expected to attend.

The action will happen on Ocean Drive between 8am to 4pm on Friday and Sunday, with a road race being held in Dardanup as part of the championships on Saturday.

The Make Smoking History 2018 State Karting Championship held at the Bunbury City Kart Club from Saturday to Monday.

This free event includes the qualifying finals on Sunday, with finals racing on Monday from 8am. Around 250 competitors are also expected at this event.

Grand Finals footy gets underway at Hands Oval from 8.30am on Sunday, with Bunbury versus Donnybrook in the South West Football League.

Local, fresh and organic produce will be available on Saturday in Queens Gardens, with Produce in the Park getting underway from 8am.

The Moscow Circus is also in Bunbury with matinee, afternoon and evening shows at Luciana Park (adjacent to the Leschenault Inlet).

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the weekend was a sensational way to kick off the new events season and to celebrate spring in the city.

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the competitors, their friends and family who will be in Bunbury over the weekend and hope they enjoy their stay in paradise,” Mayor Brennan said.

“It is fantastic to have our city recognised as a premier destination for events and this is just the beginning of what is sure to be a stellar events season.”
