The BREC International Film Festival returns for another season this Winter with a superb line-up of 6 hand-picked films screening over two weekends from Thursday July 26.

The festival opens with Aurore, a French romantic comedy that centres on a middle-aged woman in the midst of major personal and professional life changes.

From Finland comes The Other Side of Hope, a poignant new comedy centred on Khaled, a Syrian refugee seeking asylum. Timothy Spall and Kristin Scott Thomas lead an all-star cast in dark comedy The Party direct from the United Kingdom. Filmed in black and white, a tragedy unfolds in real time when a sophisticated dinner party among friends spirals out of control.

Loveless, a Russian drama details the collapse of married couple Boris and Zhenya. Elisabeth Moss stars in Swedish comedy The Square, winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival it’s a laugh-out-loud satire of modern art, hypocrisy, and the fragile male ego.

The festival closes with heartfelt comedy Pop Aye from Thailand. The story of a successful architect who is reunited with an elephant he knew growing up. Their reunion sparks a road trip across the country as they return to their childhood home.
