Model Mania In The South West

March open day

Article heading image for Model Mania In The South West

Whilst Australia seems to have a bit of an obsession with ‘big things’, we also marvel at the intricate detail of models of these ‘big things’.  The South West Rail and Heritage Centre, recognising this, is theming is March Open Day on March 25th as “Model Mania” where models of all types and descriptions will be on view for visitors to admire.

Centrepiece of the Model Mania day will be the South West Model Railway Group with its extensive layout and host of model trains and rolling stock continuously traversing the tracks.  And it is not only the rolling stock that draws the attention but also the detail in the scenery and buildings that provide the background for the action.

And all of the resident groups at the Centre, the Boyanup Foundation Blacksmiths, the Preston River Old Machinery Group, the Capel Men’s Shed and the railway rolling stock restorers will be on site and demonstrating their skills and the products of those skills.

The South West Rail and Heritage Centre, Turner St, Boyanup is open from 10am to 2pm with entry by donation. The Picnic Van offers light refreshments and there will be a sausage sizzle.  For more information, please contact Norm at [email protected] or call 0459 712 552.
