Tuesday the 25th is Anzac Day - a day we commemorate the soldiers killed in war and honour the servicemen and women who returned back home. The date itself marks the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers, otherwise known as the Anzacs, on the Gallipoli Peninsula back in 1915.

Below you'll find your guide to all the Anzac Services near you:

LIVINGSTONE SHIRE:

  • Mt Chalmers
    Anzac Day Service in Mt Chalmers will be held at the Memorial Gardens in the old Mt Chalmers School Ground.
  • Anzac Day Service at Stanage Bay
    Dawns service at 4.28 AM if there are Diggers attending - Dawn Service at 6 AM if no Diggers attend Main Service at 11:00 AM in Memorial
  • Anzac Day Service at Ogmore/Marlborough

    Gather at Marlborough Motors at 5:15am for commencement of March. Service to begin at 5:30am at Lions Park.
  • Anzac Day Service @ Marlborough
    Dawn service to commence at 5:30am with breakfast to follow at Lions Park - March steps off at 5:20am from Marlborough Motors and will proceed to Lions Park
  • Anzac Day Service @ Yeppoon
    Dawn Service will be held at the Amphitheatre at 5:00am - Gun Fire Breakfast hosted at The Strand - Street March steps off at 9:00am followed by main service at 9:30am.  refreshments available
  • Anzac Day Service @ The Caves
    Dawn Service will be followed by Gunfire Breakfast at The Caves Pub - Parade will step off from the school at 12:25pm and proceed to the Town Centre - Main service will be held at 12:30pm in the Town Centre


This year's commorative events across the Gladstone Region are outlined below:

Agnes Water/ Seventeen Seventy 
Dawn Service

Meet at Rock Latino Cafe, Shop 10, Endeavour Plaza, Agnes Water, at 5.30am for coffee. Dawn service will commence at 6am at the Agnes Water Cenotaph, 2 Captain Cook Drive, followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Agnes Water Tavern, 1 Tavern Road, at 7am.

Community Memorial Service
The march starts at 9.45am at the Agnes Water Tavern, 1 Tavern Road. The service will commence at 10.30am at the Agnes Water Cenotaph, 2 Captain Cook Drive, followed by morning tea and activities at the tavern.

Bororen
Dawn Service

The service will commence at 6am at the Cenotaph at Bororen Memorial Park, Bruce Highway.

Boyne Island
Dawn Service

The service will commence at 5.30am at the Cenotaph, Stirling Park, Boyne Island. This will be followed by a BBQ breakfast at Lions Park, adjacent to Stirling Park, for a gold coin donation. 

Morning Service
March to commence at 8.30am from the Boyne Plaza Carpark, Centenary Drive, to Stirling Park. The service will start at 9am and be led by the Tannum Sands State High School Band. Activities and refreshments will follow at 11am at the Boyne Tannum Bowls Club's clubhouse, Jacaranda Drive, for ex-service personnel and invited guests. A courtesy bus will operate both ways between the Boyne Plaza and Stirling Park for the elderly and those with a disability.

Calliope
Morning Service

March to commence at 10.45am from the Bunting Park to the local Cenotaph, RSL Hall, Stirrat Street, followed by a service at 11am. Invited guests are welcome to attend a luncheon at the Diggers Arms Hotel, Calliope.

Gladstone
Dawn Service

March to commence at 5.30am from the Valley Shopping Centre, facing Herbert Street. Service to follow at ANZAC Park. 

Main Parade and Civic Ceremony
March to commence at 10.30am from the Gladstone Regional Council Civic Centre, 101 Goondoon Street, followed by a service at 11am. Invited guests are welcome to attend a luncheon at 12.30pm at the Gladstone RSL, Bowls and Citizen Club, 6A Ferris Street.

Miriam Vale
Dawn Service

March to commence 4.30am at the Miriam Vale Hotel, 9 Blomfield Street, followed by a public breakfast and entertainment (small fee). 

Mount Larcom
Dawn Service

Service to commence at 5.30am at the Showgrounds Memorial Garden Cenotaph at the Mount Larcom and District Armed Services Centre, The Narrows Road. This will be followed by a breakfast.

Main Ceremony
Assemble outside RSL Hall at 10.30am for an 11am ceremony at the Showgrounds Memorial Garden Cenotaph at the Mount Larcom and District Armed Services Centre, The Narrows Road. There will be free ice cream for school aged children, BBQ lunch and bar, raffles and music on conclusion.

Rosedale
Morning Service

Assemble at Cenotaph for 5.45am service which will conclude at 6.30am. Fly-over at 6.31am. A Gunfire Breakfast will then be held at the Memorial Hall, 77 James Street. (open to the public). 

South End
Dawn Service
Service to be conducted at Janson Park by The Anchor on the Headland at 5.30am.

Ubobo
Morning Service

March to commence at 1.45pm under the memorial trees at Ubobo State School. Service to follow at 2pm at the Ubobo Memorial Hall, Railway Terrace. Afternoon tea will be supplied by the Ubobo Progress Association.

Rockhampton Dawn Service

Dawn Service | 4.27am, Cenotaph - Rockhampton Botanic Gardens. The Dawn Service time of 4.27am coincides with the first landing at Gallipoli, local time.
Please bring a torch and jumper with you to the Service. Parking at the Botanic Gardens is very limited, so please use the free Sunbus service.

Bus timetable

Departs Bunnings at 2.45am - Return bus at approximately 5.30am
Route 1: Bunnings, Northside Plaza, Kern Arcade bus stop (Bolsover Street), Allenstown Plaza, Botanic Gardens.
Route 2: Bunnings, Northside Plaza, City Centre Plaza, Showgrounds main entrance bus stop, Botanic Gardens.
Note: Buses stop on the street and do not enter carparks. Please contact Sunbus on 4936 2133 to book a wheelchair space. Bookings are not required for regular seating.

Streets closed – Dawn Service

Spencer Street between Agnes Street and Anne Street and Anne Street between Penlington Street and Spencer Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 3am and 6am on Anzac Day. SES Volunteers will direct cars.

Rockhampton March

The March will step off from the intersection of Archer and Alma Streets at 9.57am. It will continue along Archer and then turn right into Victoria Parade, continuing along Victoria Parade, under the ‘old’ Fitzroy River Bridge and turn right into Fitzroy Street. It will continue along Fitzroy Street, turning left into East Street and continue along East Street to William Street. It will turn right into William Street and continue to Bolsover Street and conclude with a Civic Service of Remembrance outside City Hall.
Those watching the March are encouraged to bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle and to stay for the Civic Service. 
 

Streets closed – Rockhampton March

Between 6am and 1pm on Anzac Day, the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic to enable the conducting of the Rockhampton Anzac Day March:
  • Archer Street between Denison Street and Victoria Parade; 
  • Victoria Parade/Quay Street between Archer and Denham Streets; 
  • Fitzroy Street between Victoria Parade/Quay Street and East Street; East Street between Fitzroy Street and Market Lane; 
  • William Street between East Street and Alma Lane; 
  • Alma Street between Cambridge and Fitzroy Streets; 
  • Alma Street between Denham and Derby Streets; 
  • Bolsover Lane between Cambridge and Archer Streets; 
  • Bolsover Lane between Denham and William Streets; 
  • East Lane between Cambridge and Fitzroy Streets; 
  • Bolsover Street between William and Derby Streets.

Rockhampton Civic Service of Remembrance

At the conclusion of the Anzac Day March (approx. 11am) there is a ceremony of remembrance and dedication being held outside City Hall, Bolsover Street. This service replaces the usual Anzac Day Service at Riverside Park due to the Riverbank Revitalisation Works on Quay Street.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle as shade may be limited.
