Tom Browne On Gil McLachlan Stepping Down As AFL CEO: When He’ll Go, Potential Successors

With reports that Gil McLachlan will step down as AFL CEO, Triple M Footy news breaker Tom Browne has explained all the latest.

"I understand that Gil McLachlan, the AFL CEO, will announce at 11:30 this morning that he’s stepping aside as the AFL boss at the end of this season,” Browne said.

"The clubs, I understand, have a telephone hook up, I can reveal, with the AFL at 10:30… and at 11 the AFL staff, I understand, are also getting a separate briefing."

Browne also threw up some possible names for the next person in the role.

"Now doubt the focus will turn on potential successors," he said.

"Guys like Travis Auld at the AFL, Kylie Rogers at the AFL, and Andrew Dillon at the AFL.

"Even Patrick Delaney… the CEO of Foxtel being looked at."
